'I met Jesus at the bank' |
 |
This extract comes
from a tale about a remarkable, caring member of our staff in
Zambia. Her creativeness enriched and probably saved the lives
of many orphaned children living in Africa.
'Most of Lusaka's street children are orphans. Most have lost
their parents to AIDS. They numb their hunger and pain with
cheap drugs. The most popular street drug is petrol. They sniff
petrol-soaked rags. Godfridah believes their souls need as much
healing as their bodies. Someone has to care. Someone has to
try and make a difference.'
So Godfridah fed the children - their bodies and their souls.
As food was served, they would sing gospel songs.
