To process your application, your credit card must have been active for at least six months and maintained in good order.

    Documents required:

    1. Bank statements for the last 3 months
    2. Emirates ID
    3. Passport
    4. Visa

Please allow 2 working days for processing.

  • How credit card interest is calculated ?

    1.  Your credit card caters to the following concepts:

    a)  Statement date: the date when your statement gets generated every month

    b)  Payment due date: the date when you need to make a minimum payment (5% of the total amount due), you can choose to make payments higher than that

    c)  Credit free period: please note that in the UAE the banks offer a maximum of 45 to 55 days of interest-free period, however that will depend on your purchase date and the statement generation date.

    2.  Interest will not be charged to your account if the full payment is made by the due date. However, interest will be charged on a daily balance methodology if the balance is rolled over to the next month. The process for calculation is as below

    a)  The monthly interest rate is applied on the average daily balance (average of the daily outstanding balance over the month).

    b)  Please note that any payment that is short of the full payment will also incur charges.

    c)  Please note refunds are not considered as payments, we will request you to make the payment for that transaction and utilise the refunded amount at a later stage.

  • What is an Easy Payment Plan ?

An Easy Payment Plan is a way to pay off purchases over AED 500 on your Standard Chartered credit card by instalments, without any interest being charged.

You must spend a minimum of AED 500 or more with your card, and you can spread the payments over 6 or 12 months.

There are several ways you can convert your payments into Easy Payment Plans

When you make a purchase on your card you will receive a personalized SMS with a unique code from 3133 to convert your transactions into an Easy Payment Plan.

    Or

Log in to the SC Mobile app, and convert the purchase to an Easy Payment Plan by following the below steps:

    1. Go to Card Transactions
    2. Enter the One Time Password (OTP) you receive by SMS or email
    3. Select the transaction you would like to convert, and the tenure duration
    4. Confirm your application and you will receive confirmation by SMS and email

An amount equivalent to the transaction will be blocked on your credit card. As you pay it off in instalments, the blocked amount will reduce.

The equal monthly instalment amount will be included in your monthly credit card statement as part of the ‘minimum amount due’. If you fail to make the payment of this amount, you will be charged interest on the unpaid balance at the applicable rate.

Any other purchases on your card that are not part of the Easy Payment Plan will still be charged interest at the normal rate.

  • What is a credit card Balance Transfer and how does it work ?

A balance transfer is a way to move credit card debt from any other bank’s credit card in the UAE to a Standard Chartered credit card. This can help you reduce the amount of interest you’re paying at the other bank.

    How does it work?

We transfer the outstanding balance from your other bank’s credit card to your Standard Chartered credit card (payment will be made to your other bank credit card from Standard Chartered). Once transferred, you enjoy a special low interest rate on that amount, for 180 days. You pay a small processing fee on the amount transferred.

There is no fixed instalment to be paid every month. Just pay the minimum amount due as per your statement.

To make a Balance Transfer, simply call us on (+971) 600 522 288 and give us the details of the card(s) you’d like to transfer from.

  • What is an Islamic credit card ?

Islamic credit cards provide many of the services of conventional credit cards, but they also conform to Shariah law, which prohibits interest or ‘riba’ being charged on money borrowed. They may use the principle of ‘Murabaha’, where payment is made and exchanged for benefits and services offered to cardholders.

It’s essential to follow your principles, and the Saadiq credit card is designed to stay true to your beliefs, no matter where you are.

According to the ‘Murabaha’ concept, which means a trade transaction, you will only be charged a profit rate on the amount that you carry forward to next month. This structure has been reviewed and approved by an independent Shariah Supervisory Committee, comprising of three of the world’s most renowned and respected scholars in the field of Islamic Banking.

The Saadiq Credit Card is a zero-fee*, Shariah-compliant card.

You are not charged over-limit, cash advance or late payment fees. This internationally recognized credit card comes packed with exclusive travel perks and privileges to suit your lifestyle. It’s easy to use and complements your beliefs.

    * A minimum spend of AED 2,000 per year is required.

  • What is the difference between a credit card and a debit card ?

Both debit and credit cards are convenient ways of spending money without carrying cash around.  However, the main difference is that a debit card is connected to your bank account. Every purchase amount you make is taken out of your account immediately.

Credit cards are not linked to your bank account. When you spend on a credit card, you borrow the money from the bank. You have the option of paying 100% of your credit card outstanding balance or pay some and let the remaining balance roll over to be billed next month.

  • How to pay your credit card bill online ?

You can pay using Standard Chartered Online Banking or the SC Mobile app.

Simply click “Card Payment” under “Card Services” and select the card you wish to pay and the payment amount.

You need to pay the full statement balance by the due date, to avoid paying interest.

You can pay immediately, or automatically pay every month by selecting “Recurring Payments” under “Payment Type” while submitting your request.

  • How to view your credit card statement ?

You can view your current credit card statement (and two previous months’ card statements) online – anytime, anywhere. All you need to do is to click on Card Information under Card Services and select the statement you wish to see.

    Your statements are segmented as:

Current transactions: Here you can view all your transactions recorded after your last month’s statement from the Bank.

Last statement: This will be your last month’s statement.

Prior statement: This will be your statement ‘prior’ to the last month’s statement.

  • How to transfer money from your credit card to your bank account ?

This is a cash advance facility, in which you can convert any amount up to your credit card limit into cash. The amount will be credited to your bank account. Simply select the facility using Online Banking or on the SC Mobile app. Please click here to explore ways to manage your finances.

  • What are interest charges on a credit card ?

An interest charge simply refers to the interest you’re charged on your credit card outstanding balance.

You will not be charged with interest charges if you make a 100% payment of your outstanding balance by the due date (excluding cash advances).
