3D SecureTM is an online security feature that is powered by Visa and Mastercard for Credit Card transactions that are carried out online. This feature protects you from unauthorised online purchases as you will be required to provide a one-time password (OTP) that is sent to your registered mobile number when you make any online purchases on websites bearing the “Verified by Visa” or “MasterCard SecureCode” sign.

No, this additional authentication process is applicable only to websites that have enabled the security feature. You will be able to identify if the website is enabled for 3D SecureTM i.e. if the “Verified by Visa” or “MasterCard SecureCode” sign is displayed on the website.

3D SecureTM protects you against unauthorized online purchases as you will be required to enter an OTP, that will be sent to your mobile number and/or email address, before you can complete the online purchase. This additional authorization step ensures that only you, as the cardholder, will have the password required to complete the transaction.

The 3D SecureTM feature is a free security feature on all Standard Chartered Credit Cards.

No, the 3D SecureTM feature is applicable across Standard Chartered Chip and PIN Credit Cards.

You can update your mobile number and email address by:

  1. Contacting Phone banking at (+973) 17 531 532. For Priority Banking clients call 80001400.
  2. Logging into online banking and updating your email ID

The 3D SecureTM SecureTM feature is a safe and secure mode of carrying out transactions as each transaction can only be authenticated by a One Time Password (OTP) sent to your registered mobile number and email address.

It is a feature that allows you to pay for your next single purchase using Reward Points. You can use Purchase with Rewards by activation of this feature on your card via Online Banking.

  • Log on to online/mobile banking
  • Proceed to the ‘Credit Cards’ tab on the Menu and click on ‘Card Details’
  • Click on ‘My Rewards’ button
  • Click on the ‘Purchase with Rewards’ button
  • Select one card for ‘Purchase with Rewards’
  • Submit
  • When you perform your next transaction on this credit card the transaction will be paid using your Reward Points that you had selected.

Follow the activation process and simply click on the credit card you have selected and uncheck the box.

It works in 2 ways: full redemption and partial redemption. For an illustration, please see examples below:

A. Full redemption example – if you do a transaction post activating Purchase with Rewards

  • Transaction value – BHD50
  • Accumulated Reward Points – BHD90
  • Subsequent to transaction the transaction amount will get automatically credited to your credit card as follows
    • Amount credited to your credit card account – BHD50
    • Amount debited to your Reward Points – BHD50
    • Reward Points balance – BHD40

B. Partial redemption example – if you do a transaction post activating Purchase with Rewards

  • Transaction value – BHD100
  • Accumulated Reward Points – BHD80
  • Subsequent to transaction the transaction amount will get automatically credited to your credit card as follows:
    • Amount credited to your credit card account – BHD80
    • Amount debited to your Reward Points – BHD80
    • Reward Points balance – BHD0
  • Any transaction(s) on that card after the above single transaction will revert to regular transactions which is not payable by use or redemption of such Reward Points.
  • Bank initiated charges like Fees, Interest
  • Cash advance
  • Balance Transfer

The rewards redemption will be in real time.

The cashback will be credited to your credit card account within 24 hours. You will be able to see it through online or mobile banking.

Yes, overseas transactions will be included. Note that overseas or non-local transactions are subject to the same exchange rate of that which applies to currency conversions on your card. The amount redeemed via Purchase with Rewards will be the authorised amount.

This will not impact your ‘purchase with rewards’ the credit to your credit card remains and the debit to your reward points will not be reversed.

To keep the process simple, you can only select one credit card at a time for Purchase with Rewards

All your reward points earning cards are eligible for Purchase with Rewards.

You will be able to view the credit in your credit card statement. The debit to the reward points will be reflected in your Reward Points Summary in the monthly statement.

Yes, you will earn reward points on your next transaction

Reward Points are valid for a period of three (3) years from the date received. Unused reward points will expire at the end of validity period

This feature enables you to convert your reward points to partner points.

  • Log on to your online or mobile banking
  • Proceed to the ‘Credit Cards’ tab on the Menu and click on ‘Card Details’
  • Click on ‘My Rewards’ button
  • Click on the ‘Transfer Rewards’ button
  • Select one partner for which you want to convert your reward points
  • Enter the mandatory details and submit
  • The reward points will be converted to ‘Partner Points’ in real time

After you have clicked the ‘Transfer Rewards’ button, you will be able to promptly convert Reward Points to merchant loyalty points or air miles with certain merchants.

Please take note:

  • You will only be able to perform conversion in ‘blocks’ of amounts as displayed on online/mobile banking.
  • A transfer of merchant loyalty points or air miles from a SCB customer to another SCB customer or third party who is not a SCB customer using Transfer Rewards is not permissible.

No, there will be no fee for the conversion of your Reward Points to Partner Points.

The points are deducted from your account based on a pre-defined system logic. You cannot specify the cards from which the points will be deducted.

All your reward points earning cards are eligible for Transfer Rewards.

It will be real time for Avios/British Airways. For the remaining partners it will take up to 5 days for the transfer to be processed.
