Standard Chartered Announces Senior Appointments to its Europe Management Team

19 September 2024, London, UK. Standard Chartered announces the appointment of Nicolo Salsano as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for Europe. This appointment is in addition to his current role as CEO of Standard Chartered Bank AG (SCB AG)*. Nicolo remains based in Frankfurt, Germany.

With Europe’s rapidly growing business opportunities, evolving regulatory environment and increasing client demands, a dedicated management team will allow to maximise growth potential. Nicolo’s appointment reflects the Bank’s commitment to Europe as a key growth engine and allows for sharper focus to deliver tailored solutions for clients across diverse markets.

The Bank also announces the appointment of Caroline Eber-Ittel as Head of Banking and Coverage, Europe. This additional responsibility is in addition to her current role as CEO, France. Caroline remains based in Paris, France.

Nicolo joined the Bank in 2023 as Chief Executive Officer of SCB AG. Before joining Standard Chartered, Nicolo served as CEO and Speaker of the Management Board for HSBC Germany since 2021. Prior to working for HSBC, he spent 17 years in executive positions at Credit Suisse across various locations including London, Frankfurt and Hong Kong.

Caroline joined Standard Chartered in 2013. She most recently held the position of Head of Client Coverage Continental Europe and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), France. She started her career at HypoVereinsbank, working in the corporate development department prior to joining Deutsche Bank, where she held roles in risk management, financing and client coverage.

*Standard Chartered Bank AG is the Bank’s Continental Europe entity. It is headquartered in Germany and has branches in France, Sweden and Poland.
