Our business function
Group Internal Audit
Careers with purpose
Group Internal Audit (GIA) is an independent function focused on supporting the Standard Chartered Board and Executive Management team. We do this by helping protect the Bank’s assets, reputation, and sustainability. GIA represents the Bank’s third line of defence. We also provide independent assurance on the effectiveness of the management control of business activities (the first line), and the control of processes maintained by risk frameworks and policy owners (the second line).

Our strategic goals
We’re a forward-thinking, insightful team. We take our role in supporting the responsible growth and protection of the Bank seriously. Our teams are curious and collaborative, working as a globally connected function of experts, who drive positive change across our organisation.
Adopting future ready ways of working
We work in an agile way to get the best from each other, and in an environment where diversity of thought and sharing of expertise is in our DNA. We continuously improve and create more efficient ways to get the job done.
Innovation and technology
We work to improve the quality and efficiency of our audits. We do this by being client-first focused, using professional audit standards, applying value-add insights into our methodology and use of data and technology to anticipate risks.
What we offer
A unique global footprint
We provide a truly global working environment. Our team works with colleagues from across all geographies and from many different backgrounds, creating interesting audit assignments, and the opportunity to apply specialist knowledge into chosen areas or learn something new and different.
We value diversity and inclusion
Everyone has access to equal opportunities. We do this by being one global function, with a single methodology and approach. Each market, each team is valued for its diversity, and we recognise the value of each person’s individual contribution.
A culture to learn and grow
We support continuous development for all by providing access to a broad range of career growth opportunities including formal training, short skills bursts on emerging risks and hot topics, access to mentors, cross-team opportunities to develop outside your core team or role, and access to build new skills or enhance existing ones.
Career development
There are many ways you can grow your career with us, including moving to different specialisms; team; geography; or market. We provide the tools, resources, and network. It’s down to you to drive a career experience that meets your personal goals.
We embrace new ways of working
We’ve created an audit system built by auditors. The platform is designed to be futuristic, intuitive, collaborative, and agile. How you work is just as important. We embrace flexible and hybrid working arrangements. Your contributions are measured by outcomes, not on showing-up and being seen.
We put people above process
We’re a friendly, welcoming and supportive team. This includes buddy and induction programmes to help new joiners settle into their role, the opportunity to get involved in employee volunteering that support the communities we call home, through to internal initiatives that support our great place to work environment.
We’re future ready
We use emerging risks, linked to our core values and strategy, to help the Bank achieve its net zero ambition and manage sustainability and climate risk.
