Who we’re looking for

We’re looking for talented individuals just starting their career, who are passionate about technology and customer experience.

Our ideal candidate
  • Studied computer science, computer engineering or relevant disciplines in software design and development or with coding knowledge.
  • Should have some knowledge in cloud technologies. Advantages if you have cloud certifications.
  • Some working experience with one or more general purpose programming languages like Python, Golang, etc.
  • Ability to articulate and explain concepts and ideas contextually and visually.
  • Good technical skills, IT skills, good verbal and written communication skills and good organizational skills.
  • Good problem-solving skills and team player

Cloud allows us to be location-agnostic, ubiquitous, scalable according to needs. By embarking on a cloud-first strategy, we have the means to deliver our network, serve our customers, improve efficiencies and embrace new business opportunities through greater API connectivity. We target more than half of our compute workloads for core banking and trading systems, and new innovations, to be cloud-based by 2025, subject to regulatory approvals. All new systems are now built for the cloud, utilising modern compute paradigms and architectures that are container-based and service-based.

We have 75 opportunities in total for engineers to join Standard Chartered’s Cloud Engineering Programme by aXess Academy.

We have developed an exciting 5 weeks programme designed to fast track and enable you to build the skillsets necessary to be cloud-ready. This includes structured learning pathways in areas such as Agile, Cloud Computing, Cloud Services, Security, DevOps and Cloud Migration. You will follow a tailored training and development plan where you will have exposure to senior leaders and other technologists across the bank as well as learn more about Standard Chartered and how we operate, apply and adopt technologies with business.
