The history of Standard Chartered in Hong Kong dates back to 1859. It is currently one of the Hong Kong SAR’s three note-issuing banks. Standard Chartered incorporated its Hong Kong business on 1 July 2004, and now operates as a licensed bank in Hong Kong under the name of Standard Chartered Bank (Hong Kong) Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Standard Chartered PLC.

HKU-SCF FinTech Academy

The University of Hong Kong – Standard Chartered Hong Kong 150th Anniversary Community Foundation FinTech Academy (HKU-SCF FinTech Academy) was established in April 2020 with a generous support of HK$60 million from the Standard Chartered Hong Kong 150th Anniversary Community Foundation.

The partnership and funding provided through the HKU-SCF FinTech Academy will help facilitate HKU’s research in FinTech, as well as nurturing FinTech professionals to tackle disruptive technologies and creating a tangible and lasting impact on the banking and financial industry in Hong Kong.

Greater Bay Youth Employment Scheme

Launched by the HK Government, to encourage and support young people to work and pursue their careers in the mainland cities of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao in the Greater Bay Area.

As a key player in GBA, Standard Chartered Bank (Hong Kong) Limited is participating in the scheme and will offer an 18-month full-time opportunity to recent graduates which will allow them to understand the latest developments of both Hong Kong and those cities and leverage career opportunities in Hong Kong and the GBA.

Fintech Career Accelerator Scheme

The Fintech Career Accelerator Scheme (“FCAS”) is a talent development scheme launched by the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) in 2016 to expand the fintech talent pool in Hong Kong. This is a full-time, semester-based bank internship in Hong Kong, where interns will work on fintech projects for one year. Applications are direct to HKMA.

Apprenticeship Programme

Private Wealth Management Association

The Apprenticeship is co-organised by HKMA and Private Wealth Management Association (PWMA) and provides university students with “front-to-back” experience in the private wealth management business at least a total of sixteen weeks in two summers.

Apprentices will work across a range of functions in our Private Banking business, including different investment products knowledge, client services, risk management, compliance and internal controls. The experience gained through this programme will provide students a solid foundation for a career in the private wealth management industry.

Our clients include individuals and small businesses, and we support them with a range of traditional banking services, including investment, credit and wealth planning solutions.
