Alizeh’s story – What attracted me to work at Standard Chartered

Alizeh tells us what she does in her free time and tells us about her hidden talents!


I work on the Affluent Strategy team which involves growing and strengthening the priority and premium portfolio for the bank through campaigns and exclusive client propositions.  

The Banking industry is going through a transformative phase with digital transformation at the forefront. This allows plenty of opportunities and first-hand involvement to innovate and create new solutions. this is what really drew me into a career in banking. In regards to being drawn to Standard Chartered specifically, i'd say the bank’s global network and its commitment to diversity and sustainability was a real selling point for me. 

Could you use three words to describe life at Standard Chartered? 

Challenging, rewarding and collaborative.  

 

What do you love most about your role? 

My role allows me to work with several teams as we are continuously creating campaigns and offers for clients. This enables me to think creatively and build on my professional network.  

Describe the bank in three words? 

Global, Innovative, Dynamic 

What was the first thing you bought with your own money?  

A Euro trip! 

How do you like to spend your free time?  

I love restaurants and am usually dining out with my closest friends. 

Do you have any hidden talents?  

I know a lot of random facts.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given? 

One of the greatest things you can do for yourself is to learn from every experience, no matter how trivial.  

What advice/hints and tips, would you give to someone looking to work at Standard Chartered? 

It’s important to be open minded and flexible in your ways of working. You will come across a diverse set of teams and colleagues and you should be willing to learn from each other.
