My passion for banking – Foster Tettah
Foster gives us his thoughts on a career in banking and shared his hints and tips for interviewing at Standard Chartered
I am a Consumer, Private and Business Banking International graduate after a successful global virtual internship; where I worked on a solar panel financing business project with a diverse team and available support systems (coach, sponsor and buddy) to help me acclimatize to my business stream and excel in my internship.
What drew you to a career in banking?
The passion to get started in a banking career was hinged on the interest in fintech and the pivotal role sustainable finance and banking plays in individual or sectoral projects in economic development. Therefore, a defined career in banking would definitely make me create value via projects to make banking accessible to all and to unlock financial opportunities through financial inclusion initiatives.
What drew you to a career with Standard Chartered?
The magnet that drew me to Standard Chartered was the opportunities, the bank gives young people the platform to excel through it's employability programmes across the market.

What do you love most about your role?
As an intern at Standard Chartered, I loved the opportunity given to me to interact with business leaders, work on a solar panel financing scheme project and also the access I had to learning portals.
What advice/hints and tips, would you give to someone looking to work at Standard Chartered?
I think the advice I would give someone, especially people early on in their career looking to work for Standard Chartered is that: Standard Chartered stands for values that drive human-touch, green environment and a passionate purpose to stand for good in the society with transparency. Candidates should look for roles that align with their values.
How should someone prepare for an interview with Standard Chartered?
Research about the bank, try to be calm and always have relevant questions to ask.
