Getting things done – Joy’s Story

Joy talks to us about her time so far as an International Graduate at Standard Chartered

My first job was a cashier’s assistant at Spar, after this I applied for my role at Standard Chartered as had given me a good place to start.

What drew me into a career in banking is the challenging environment that allows for growth and opportunities within the industry. What I really love about Standard Chartered Bank is their culture and their commitment in giving back to the community.

My most memorable experience is meeting new people from around the world and the networking sessions we had during the internship.

My biggest challenge as an intern in 2021 was time management, I learnt so quickly that planning ahead really is key

What was the first thing you bought with your own money?

How do you like to spend your free time?

My free time is mostly spent on the project I volunteer with.

Are there any new skills you’re trying to learn?

I am trying to learn how to listen with not just my ears but as well with my eyes.
