Resourcing at Standard Chartered – my journey so far

Marius Bader, Resourcing Support tells us why he was drawn to a career at Standard Chartered and about his secret collection of tattoos!

In early 2022, I completed my studies, and Standard Chartered beckoned when an employee from a recruitment agency presented me with an enticing role. I swiftly accepted the offer and I embarked on a journey marked by evolving roles and collaborating with new colleagues in Poland. Today, as an experienced Resourcing Support colleague, I work closely with recruiters in Warsaw.

I was drawn to a career in banking by the prospect of working for an international employer with a global footprint – so Standard Chartered was a perfect match.

My first day at the office remains etched in my memory – a mix of nerves and curiosity. Engaging with new colleagues each month in my Onboarding and Recruiting role keeps the experiences fresh in my mind. I’ve then really found interacting with international colleagues has been one of the best things about working here and the prominence of being part of a major player in the banking industry are unparalleled.

The best career advice I've received is to explore doing things my way, aligning with corporate values, of course.  This has allowed me to try new things without the fear of making mistakes, as navigating the pressures of resourcing, especially during times when future colleagues need to resign from their current jobs to join us, brings its own unique tempo. Despite the challenges, I find enjoyment in the process.

Outside of work I enjoy meeting friends, attending concerts, exploring new cities (especially in Europe), and spending quality time with my dog.

I have quite a collection of tattoos.

Currently, I'm exploring music recording.
