Tell us about your role and the projects that you have been working on.

I am currently working on a project focused on developing an architectural solution for Standard Chartered’s new multi-cloud strategy. There is a diverse range of people working on this large-scale project and I have tremendously benefitted from the shared advice and knowledge of the team. An important aspect of the project is collaboration, which has given me the opportunity to closely work with the cloud engineering and enterprise technology teams as we work together to build solutions for application integrations in the cloud. This project has taught me to be versatile and apply my skills to operations that I would not normally be involved in. It has truly been a learning experience and will definitely benefit my long-term career.

What is your most notable achievement since starting your role with Standard Chartered?

Since rejoining the Bank in 2007, I have worked on a multitude of projects that utilise new developments in technology. I have been able to watch the Bank move from strength to strength as modern technology has advanced and I am proud to say that I have been a part of that journey. My most notable achievement since returning to the Bank was during a project where I was able to create and implement an integration architecture for Standard Chartered’s trade finance domain. The integration architecture that I helped to develop was rolled out in over 40 countries, which meant my team and I had to ensure the programme was applicable to the various systems used globally across the Bank. This posed a great challenge but I am very proud of how my team and I were able to adapt and deliver.

What do you love the most about your job?

My role gives me a unique opportunity to collaborate with people from different functions and geographical locations within the Bank. I enjoy socialising with my overseas colleagues and learning how they work. Through working with Standard Chartered’s talents from across the world I have been able to gain different perspectives that I have utilised to drive positive change at the Bank and accelerate my career. Another aspect of my job that I love is having the opportunity to work with the newest cutting-edge technologies. Standard Chartered are committed to its investment in FinTech and as a member of the Technology team, I have access to the latest technological advancements available.

How would you describe the culture in the Technology team?

Due to the nature of our work, the Technology team culture is extremely collaborative. We recognise one another's strengths and harness them to achieve our shared goals. The entire team is extremely passionate about cloud computing and its potential. Management encourages us to take risks which cultivates a revolutionary opportunity to pioneer state-of-the-art digital processes at the Bank.
