Technology & Innovation at Standard Chartered- Aditya’s story

Aditya’s journey with Standard Chartered began in 2020 when he joined the Transformation, Technology and Operations (TTO) Team as a Software Developer. Since then, Aditya has moved from strength to strength in his role whilst working on projects such as a widespread cloud platform rollout.

What attracted you to join the Standard Chartered Technology team?

Standard Chartered is a bank of the future and I wanted to be a part of an organisation that gave me the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies. The Bank is committed to creating a seamless and modern banking experience for its users and that aligned perfectly with my ambitions. I aspire to use my skills to make a positive difference in the world and the idea of utilising innovation and the latest tech to improve the banking experience attracted me to the role.

Tell us about an exciting project that you have worked on.

I am currently working on a project that uses the latest data technologies to build real-time ETL (extract, transform and load) pipelines from the ground up to support efficient and secure data storage and retrieval. This is a huge-scale project that will be widely implemented across the Bank. My work on this project will benefit everyone who uses Standard Chartered’s services, from my colleagues to our customers, by speeding up the Bank’s operations and providing customers with a more streamlined and secure experience.

What is your proudest achievement since joining Standard Chartered?

My proudest moment since joining the Bank was when I received the Rockstar Newbie award at the Standard Chartered Circle of Excellence Awards 2022. This award is presented to employees that perform exceptionally well in delivering one or more of their objectives within the first few months of joining the team. I am incredibly proud of this achievement and I appreciate that the Bank recognised and rewarded my efforts. Receiving such recognition is one of the driving forces of my efforts and makes me feel proud on a daily basis.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced so far in your role?

Since joining the Bank I have gone from strength to strength, and because of this, I have had the opportunity to take on extra responsibilities to expand my skill set and accelerate my career. Holding multiple responsibilities has been challenging, I have taken complete ownership of producing digital architectural solutions at a very early stage in my career, but this has only helped me to grow my skills and become a better leader.

The height of your success is determined by the depth of your belief.

What are you most looking forward to in your role in moving forward?

I look forward to continuing to expand my skills and taking on more complex responsibilities. Since joining the Bank I have truly been able to shine and I can’t wait to see where I am professionally in a year's time. Standard Chartered is moving ever closer to being totally cloud-ready and I am excited to be a part of the widespread rollout of the new technology.

What would surprise people about working at Standard Chartered?

When most people think of banking, they assume that it is a very conventional industry with traditional values. Standard Chartered’s commitment to harnessing the newest technologies is refreshing and revitalising, and I think it would surprise individuals who come from a background centred around innovation and fintech. I also believe that people would be surprised by the possibility to take ownership of projects and make an impact within the early stages of their journey with Standard Chartered.
