David Rego

David Rego is Global Head of Payments for Standard Chartered Bank with over twenty-five years of cash and liquidity management experience across product, technology, and operations. In his current role he is responsible for driving the transformation of the Bank’s payments business and leading our teams in the creation of market-leading solutions that meet the evolving needs of clients.

Prior to this role, he was Global Head of Liquidity Management, Deposits & Escrow Solutions and focused on the P&L management of the transaction banking demand deposits portfolio, expanding the liquidity management solution set, growing the escrow business, and building out third party money solutions.

Since joining the Bank in 2007, David has also been Africa Regional Cash Product Head and Global Head Cash Product Development. He has a deep understanding of client needs and uses his extensive cash management knowledge to lead the creation of market leading solutions such as virtual accounts, payments to mobile wallets, tax payments integration, multi-bank direct debit sweeps, just-in-time sweeps, sustainable accounts, and digital escrows. He has also set up and run large delivery programs that implemented the bank’s global platforms across 30+ markets.

David holds a Master’s degree in Economics from Mumbai University and has completed the executive program in Organizational Design for Digital Transformation from MIT Sloan School of Management and the Certificate in International Cash Management from ACT, UK.
