Kelvin Lau

Senior Economist, Greater China and North Asia

Kelvin Lau is a member of the Bank’s Greater China and North Asia research team. He is based in Hong Kong and has over 20 years of experience in economic analysis. Kelvin specialises in offshore Renminbi development and provides macroeconomic research on the region. He has co-authored a book on the rise of the offshore Renminbi and constructed an index to track the Renminbi’s internationalisation. His views are frequently quoted in the media. Kelvin is also the Honorary Economist of the British Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong, and was an appointed member of the Hong Kong Committee for Pacific Economic Cooperation (HKCPEC) between April 2020 and March 2024.
