Michele Wee

Michele Wee Sung San was appointed CEO, Standard Chartered Bank (Vietnam) Ltd on 01 February 2021. After one year in the role, she successfully led the bank through an unprecedentedly challenging year due to the profound impact of the 4th wave of COVID-19 in the country. The franchise recorded a solid financial year, its branding is on an upswing and its people are placed on a strong development agenda.

Michele’s journey with Standard Chartered Bank started in 2011 when she joined Standard Chartered Bank Singapore as Managing Director, Global Head of eCommerce Sales. In this role, she led and developed the Financial Markets’ global e-commerce business, defined, managed and implemented the eCommerce strategy across the broad spectrum of FICC products.

Moving on to her next expanded role, Michele was Head of Financial Markets – Singapore, Australia and Brunei, taking charge of the Financial Markets business for these 3 markets, alongside with delivering the marketing governance, regulatory relationships as aligned with the Global Strategy and Country Strategy. She successfully implemented the mandate to enable organizational change and built a long term, more sustainable and forward-looking financial markets business.
