Standard Chartered has appointed Henrik Raber as the Bank’s Head of Capital Markets. He will report to Mark Dowie, Acting Group Head of Financial Markets, and continues to be based in Singapore. This appointment will be effective from 16 August 2014.

Henrik has a strong track record and experience in the capital markets business. He joined Standard Chartered in July 2009 as the Bank’s Regional Head of Debt Capital Markets for Europe, Africa and the Americas. In June 2010, he took on the role as Head of Debt Capital Markets, a role which he has held until now. Since joining Standard Chartered, Henrik has contributed significantly to building the Bank’s debt capital markets business in the last five years. Under his strong leadership, Standard Chartered today ranks among the top capital markets businesses in our footprint markets across Asia, Africa and the Middle East.

Before joining Standard Chartered, Henrik was heading the European credit flow sales business at UBS Investment Bank, where he was instrumental in building its European primary markets bond business, and credit sales and trading operations. Prior to that, he also worked at Lehman Brothers for eight years in fixed income and trading and capital markets.

Henrik takes over from Anand Kumar, who has decided to leave the Bank to pursue new career opportunities. Henrik’s successor will be announced in due course.

Commenting on the new appointment, Mark Dowie said: “Since joining the Bank, Henrik has contributed strongly to our debt capital markets business, which forms a core part of our capital markets solution for our clients, and continues to inspire his team. With his experience and leadership, I am confident that Henrik will be able to continue the strong momentum of the capital markets business as we continue to focus on providing innovative fund raising solutions to our clients.

“We thank Anand for his contributions to the capital markets business and we wish him well in his new business venture.”
