Standard Chartered has appointed Margaret Harwood-Jones as Global Head of Securities Services with immediate effect.

Margaret leads a newly-created global business line within Transaction Banking, which brings together the Bank’s sales, product, service and technology & operations in Securities Services. In doing so, the Bank will better serve its clients across its footprint, placing all activities in Securities Services on an end-to-end basis under common leadership and management, both globally and within the Bank’s markets, focusing on delivering a consistent, high quality client experience.

Standard Chartered’s Securities Services business is an established leader across Asia, Africa and the Middle East with presences in 40 markets, serving the largest global custodians, broker-dealers and both international and local institutional investors globally.

Commenting on Margaret’s appointment, Alex Manson, Global Head, Transaction Banking, Standard Chartered, said, “Securities Services is a critical part of the proposition for our clients as they access some of the fastest growing markets in the world. Clients look to us not only to deliver our capabilities but provide local knowledge and insight in and across our footprint. We are pleased to have Margaret, with her extensive knowledge of the industry and deep client relationships, lead this business – as we continue to look to improve the way we serve our clients”.

Margaret Harwood-Jones, Global Head, Securities Services, Transaction Banking, Standard Chartered, said: “I am very excited to take on this new role and drive our strategy for the Securities Services business going forward. We have a unique network with which we serve our clients’ needs across Asia, Africa and the Middle East – in better aligning our structure across the Bank, my colleagues and I hope to offer world-class service standards in everything we do across all our markets”.

Margaret joined Standard Chartered as the Head of Investors & Intermediaries in Transaction Banking in January 2013, and will maintain her current responsibilities from this role. She has extensive, international experience and has held senior management positions within the securities services industry for more than 20 years.
