Multiple digital honours at 2013 Global Finance Awards
Standard Chartered bagged a total of five major awards at the 2013 Digital Awards held recently by world-renowned Global Finance magazine – including ‘Best Consumer Internet Bank for the UAE’ which the bank has won for the third consecutive year.
Earlier this year, Standard Chartered announced its “digitisation vision” and introduced its innovative mobile banking application, Breeze, in the UAE. The application will eventually be developed into a “virtual branch”, where customers can place requests as well as apply for products and services. The Bank also announced it will be introducing a series of digital banking services to enhance customers’ banking experience.
For this year’s Digital Awards, Standard Chartered emerged as a dominant force in online banking, being also named as ‘Best Online Deposit, Credit and Investment Product Offerings in the Middle East’ (first win); ‘Best Website Design (first win) in the Middle East’; ‘Best Information Security Initiatives in the Middle East’ (second consecutive win); and ‘Best in Social Media in the Middle East’ (second win).
Khalid El Gibaly, Regional Head of Consumer Banking, UAE and Middle East, Standard Chartered, said: “At Standard Chartered, our focus on digitisation revolves around the customer. We believe that technology has to be useful, intuitive and, most importantly, seamless. These awards are testament to the success of our “digitisation vision”, and we continue to invest for long-term growth in the region with a focus on digital technologies which we believe will shape the future of banking.”
Standard Chartered has the largest retail distribution network among international banks operating in the UAE with 11 branches, five Electronic Banking Units and more than 130 ATMs and CDMs across the UAE.
