Standard Chartered Bank has been named The World’s Best Consumer Digital Bank by Global Finance for the fifth consecutive year, beating out competition from 262 banks from around the world. The announcement of the win came at the Global Finance Digital Bank Conference and awards dinner in London on 27 October 2015.

Karen Fawcett, CEO of Retail Banking, Standard Chartered Bank said: “We are delighted with this industry recognition. It’s a testament to our efforts to develop market-leading online and mobile channels that deliver easy, convenient banking to all our clients. We’ll keep investing in digital technology so we can continue to meet our clients’ local and international banking needs.”

Added Michael Gorriz, Group CIO, Standard Chartered Bank: “In the digital age, it is crucial that we continue to build new and improved capabilities to better serve our clients’ changing needs. Digitisation and innovation in our digital channels is making our banking services faster, more secure and more personalised.”

Standard Chartered was also the regional winner for Best Consumer Digital Bank for Middle East and Africa for the fourth consecutive year and dominated the Global Sub-category Awards, sweeping up awards for the Best Online Deposit, Credit and Investment Product Offerings; Best Bill Payment and Presentment; Best Information Security Initiatives and, for the first time, Best in Mobile Banking. Earlier this year, Standard Chartered was a big winner in Global Finance Magazine’s 2015 Best Consumer Digital Bank Awards in Asia, Africa and the Middle East, winning 17 country awards and six regional awards.

Global Finance selected winning banks based on the following criteria: strength of strategy to attract and service digital customers, success in getting clients to use digital offerings, growth of digital customers, breadth of product offerings, evidence of tangible benefits gained from digital initiatives and web/mobile site design and functionality. The full list of winners can be found on the Global Finance website.

Standard Chartered’s retail banking business serves the banking needs of over 9 million individual and business clients across more than 30 markets in Asia, Africa and the Middle East, through nearly 1,200 branches and 5,000 ATMS, as well as digital channels.
