Standard Chartered opens First International Banking Centre for Global Indians to offer customised multi market wealth solutions

Launch in line with Bank’s focus to accelerate growth in Wealth and Affluent and strategic focus on the Global Indian segment

22 October 2024, India – Standard Chartered today announced the inauguration of its First International Banking Centre for Global Indians in Mumbai to cater to the affluent and high-net-worth individuals in managing their wealth and banking needs across the globe.

The Indian diaspora across the world as well as the affluent individual resident in India have an increasingly “global” outlook now for their personal, business and wealth requirements. The Bank aims to address this shift by providing a multi-market gateway for these clients leveraging its international wealth centres in Singapore, UAE, Hong Kong, Jersey (UK) and India.

The centre strengthens the Bank’s Global Indian proposition, a strategic initiative to offer leading international wealth solutions to meet the ambitions of this growing client segment across the world. The Bank plans to shortly open such centres in some of the other key markets in India to address the requirements of these Global Indians.

The Global Indian proposition will offer a rich set of international solutions and experiences including access to signature investment opportunities, seamless international banking capabilities and cross border wealth and lending solutions.

At the heart of the proposition is a team of highly experienced INSEAD trained relationship managers based close to where the clients are, supported by global network of wealth specialists and partners that help the client seamlessly manage their wealth across borders. The global Indian clients will also get to enjoy unique lifestyle experiences including exclusive dining offers and travel assistance, especially when traveling to India.

Speaking at the occasion, Rajesh Kannan, Managing Director, Head of Global Indian and Head of Wealth and Retail Banking UAE, Jersey (UK), Standard Chartered Bank, said, “The launch of the Global Indian proposition reinforces Standard Chartered Bank’s position as a leading international wealth manager for our affluent clients. The Indian diaspora now has a more “global” investment outlook. We are focussed on managing this change by providing an international gateway for these clients by leveraging our international wealth centres combined with our deep-rooted knowledge and understanding of India to support their global wealth ambitions, beyond borders.”

Aditya Mandloi, Managing Director, Head of Wealth and Retail Banking, India and South Asia, Standard Chartered Bank, said, “The global Indian clientele is a key strategic focus for the bank. With the rising affluence of NRIs and globally mobile individuals based in India, there is immense potential to offer tailored cross-border investment and wealth lending solutions. Our newly established International Banking Centre is dedicated to addressing these needs by providing exclusive access to offshore investment opportunities, enabling clients to diversify their portfolios across global markets. With Standard Chartered’s vast international network and deep expertise, we are uniquely positioned to deliver seamless world-class solutions to our Private and Priority clients.”
