Step 1: Provide proof of identity for all parties opening the account
Documents
Requirements
Any of the below can be used as proof of identity:
– Valid Passport or
– Valid Nationality Identity Card or
– Current Driver’s License
All identity documents must include:
– Account party’s name and clear signature
– A clear photograph of the individual
– Nationality
– Issue and expiry dates
– Date and place of birth
– Identification document number
Step 2: Provide proof of your permanent residential address

A separate proof of residential address document has to be presented i.e.; the same ID document cannot be used for both purposes.

Documents
Requirements
Any of the below can be used as proof of permanent residential address:
– Fixed Service of Utility Bill or
– Bank Statement or
– Correspondence from a Central or Local Government Agency or
– Letter of Introduction
– Must be dated within the last 3 months
– Original document or a verified copy of document is acceptable

Examples of Documents

Fixed Service of Utility Bill
For example, gas, electric or water bill. This must be issued within the last three months on receipt of the Bank.

Bank Statement
A statement which is less than three months old when you send it to the Bank.

Correspondence from a Central or Local Government Agency
For example tax bill.

Letter of Introduction
A letter confirming your residential address issued from a branch of subsidiary or a third party Bank that is headquartered in approved country. Must be addressed to an SCB representative – to whom it may concern is not acceptable.

Step 3: Complete application forms
Things to check
a) Ensure all fields are completed
b) Complete Debit card request section and Breeze Online Banking sections within the application form
c) Advise what currency you would like your account held in and detailed on bank statements
d) Transaction profile must be completed
e) Complete applicable tax forms: a CRS form, and either a W8BEN or W9BEN
f) Read and safekeep Standard Chartered’s General Terms and Conditions
