What drives you?

Human interaction and partnership. It’s the people I work with and my clients that keep me going. It is in knowing that I have advised my clients accurately and we have worked well together to reach an optimal solution. This tells me that the Bank is taking a stand on doing the right thing that reinforces the purpose of my role. It will equally make my day when someone comes up to me and says, ‘thank you’!

How have you grown with the Bank?

Although I joined the Bank at age 56, I found the opportunities to grow professionally by specialising in Employee Relations and it has been a hugely rewarding experience. Nice to know that my manager continues to value my contributions and even expanded my role to lead the Employee Relations teams in Singapore and Malaysia in 2020!

What are your favourite moments in the Bank?

I guess it’s nice to be a founding member of the Employee Relations unit in Singapore. But what I appreciate more are the friendships I have formed in this global organisation, the many opportunities to learn and grow, and the consideration the Bank has for employees’ wellbeing and work-life balance.

How do you balance the different roles in your life?

It just works for me. Work hard, play hard, stay healthy, and make time for the people in your life.

Your advice to people looking to join the banking industry?

Find what pushes you and provides the sense of fulfilment you need. For me, I want to stay mentally and ‘economically’ active!

Describe with three words what it’s been like working in the Bank.

Challenging, rewarding, fulfilling.
