Changes to Smart Credit Card FAQs

Introducing a Smarter way to get up to 10% unlimited cashback

With effect from 6 December 2024, your Smart Credit Card gives you more rewards.

  • Converting your transactions into 3-month interest instalments from 8 December 2024 will incur a low one-time processing fee, choose from our flexible tenure of up to 12-months
  • Your Annual Membership Fee would be waived for the next 12 months. From 6 December 2025, an Annual Membership Fee of S$91 (excluding GST) would apply
  • The Effective Interest Rate (“EIR”) on all Smart Credit Cards will be reverted to the base rate of 27.9% per annum

From 6 December 2024, you can earn up to 10% cashback on even more everyday merchants using your Smart Card.

A total of 20 merchants under the three pillars of Smart Dining, Smart Streaming and Smart Transport will be eligible to earn bonus cashback.

  Is there a cap on the cashback I can earn on my Smart Card?

Under the current Smart Card Rewards Promotions terms and conditions, there is a cap of 14,400 360o Rewards Points (“Smart Cap”) per statement month.

This cap will be removed from 6 December 2024. Smart Cardholders will therefore enjoy no cap on both bonus categories and any eligible spend.

  When will the changes to the Smart Card benefits take effect?

The changes will take effect from your next statement cycle after 6 December 2024.

For example, if your statement cycle is on the 19th, your first statement month following the new Smart Card benefits will be from 20th December 2024 to 19th January 2025.

What will I earn if I do not meet the minimum S$800 monthly spend criteria?

Clients who charge less than S$800 to the Smart Card in their statement month will also enjoy 4% cashback on bonus categories from 6 December 2024 to 31 March 2025.

From 1 April 2025, you will earn the base reward of 0.5% cashback on all eligible spend (including bonus categories) if you do not meet the minimum S$800 monthly spend.

What type of transactions will not be eligible for cashback?

Certain types of transactions are not considered eligible retail transactions and will not earn 360o Rewards Points. For the full list of exclusions, please refer to Standard Chartered Credit Cards Retail Transaction Exclusions.

Do I earn cashback or rewards points on my Smart Card?

All eligible spend on the Smart Card (including bonus categories) will earn 360o Rewards Points. See table below for the amount of 360o Rewards Points you will earn with each dollar charged to the card.

You can choose to redeem your 360o Rewards Points for cashback via SC Online Rewards. A minimum of 3,200 360o Rewards Points is required for each redemption of S$10 cashback.

*Only valid for a limited period from 6 December 2024 to 31 March 2025.

When would the rewards points be credited to my Card?

All 360o Rewards Points for Bonus categories earned within your statement month will be credited 1 day after your statement cycle date.

For example, if your statement cycle is on the 19th, your spend period for each statement month will be from the 20th to the 19th of the following month. All 360o Rewards Points for Bonus categories you have earned would therefore be credited on the 20th.

 

All 360o Rewards Points for other eligible spend earned within your statement month will be credited at the end of your statement cycle date.

For example, if your statement cycle is on the 19th, all 360o Rewards Points for other eligible spend you have earned would therefore be credited on the 19th.

Do I need to replace my existing Card?

There is no need to replace your existing Smart Card. You can continue using your Smart Card.

3-month interest-free instalments Can I continue to enjoy 3-month interest-free instalments on my card? 

You may continue to convert your transactions of minimum S$150 to interest-free instalments on your Smart Card. However, there will be a processing fee charged for instalment conversions from 8 December 2024.  Please refer to our webpage on EasyPay for more information.

I have an existing EasyPay instalment plan on my Card. Will this be affected? 

Any EasyPay instalments on your Smart Card effected on or before 7 December 2024 will not be impacted. There will not be a processing fee charged to your card.

Annual Fee and other charges I am an existing Smart cardholder, will I be charged an annual fee?

Your Annual Membership Fee would be waived for the next 12 months. From 6 December 2025, an Annual Membership Fee of S$91 (excluding GST) would apply.

 

I am a new Smart cardholder, will be charged an annual fee?

All new Smart cardholders from 6 December 2024 will enjoy a first year annual fee waiver. You will be charged an annual fee for subsequent years if your card’s annual spend is less than S$10,000.

What are the changes to the Smart Credit Card’s finance charges?

Currently, Smart cardholders will be assigned an Effective Interest Rate (“EIR”) of 23.9%, 27.9% or 29.9% per annum based on the Bank’s assessment of the cardholder’s credit profile.

From 6 December 2024, all Smart cardholders will have a standardized EIR of 27.9% per annum. Finance charges are only applicable if payment is not made in full by the due date. These finance charges will be calculated on a daily basis at 0.065%, 0.076% and 0.082% from the respective transaction dates for all transactions to the date the payment is received.

 

When would the changes on the finance charges take effect? 

The changes will take effect from your next statement cycle after 6 December 2024.

For example, if your statement cycle is on the 19th, your first statement month following the standardized EIR of 27.9% per annum will be from 20th December 2024 to 19th January 2025.
