  1. Which transactions would no longer qualify for cashback or rewards points?

From 3 September 2024, transactions with the following MCCs will be excluded and no longer considered as qualifying transactions for earning cashback or rewards points.

  1. What is a Merchant Category Code (MCC)?

A Merchant Category Code (MCC) is a four-digit number assigned to a merchant/business by the merchant’s acquiring bank based on the merchant’s activity. Standard Chartered does not determine the merchant’s MCC.

  1. Which Standard Chartered Credit Card will be affected by the MCC exclusions?

The changes will be implemented to all Standard Chartered Credit Cards. Please refer to the respective product webpages for terms and conditions:

Transactions with the above listed MCCs will continue to earn cashback or rewards points on your card until 2 September 2024. Transactions posted to your card from 3 September 2024 onwards will no longer each cashback or rewards points.
