FAQs

  • In May 2019, Standard Chartered Bank completed the transfer of its Commercial Banking, Corporate & Institutional Banking and Private Banking businesses from its Singapore branch to its local subsidiary, SCBSL. All of the Bank’s businesses, including its Retail Banking business, are now operating under SCBSL.

In line with that, a new infrastructure was onboarded to allow SCBSL to process local clearing services using its own BIC (SCBLSG22) and Bank Code (9496). This means that since 8 July 2019, all fund transfers to your SCBSL accounts, including Interbank GIRO, Fast and Secure Transfers (“FAST”), PayNow, MAS Electronic Payment System (“MEPS”) and Telegraphic Transfer must use the new BIC and Bank code.

All partner banks have been notified about the termination of our old BIC and they should have updated their payee and Interbank GIRO records with our new BIC (SCBLSG22) by 26 June 2020 in order to avoid any rejections.

  • No action is required from you. All partner banks have been informed about the termination of our old BIC and should have updated their payee and Interbank GIRO records with our new BIC (SCBLSG22) by 26 June 2020. Otherwise, any FAST or Interbank GIRO transactions received after 26 June 2020 will be rejected.

  • The remitter should select “Standard Chartered Bank Singapore” or “Standard Chartered Bank (Singapore) Limited” when adding you as a payee via online or mobile banking.

  • For Local SGD transfers: No action is required of you. All partner banks have been informed about the termination of our old BIC and should have updated their payee and Interbank GIRO records with our new BIC (SCBLSG22) by 26 June 2020. If a fund transfer fails, please check that the new BIC (SCBLSG22) is selected. Otherwise, contact the remitter bank for assistance.

For International Remittances: Please request your remitter to use the new BIC (SCBLSG22).

  • There is no change to your existing account payee setup and no action is required from you.

  • There is no impact to PayNow transfers to SCBSL clients and you may continue making the transactions as usual.

  • There will be no impact to your outgoing payments and they will continue to be processed by SCBSL using the new BIC (SCBLSG22). No action is required of you.
