Simplygo Visa Free Ride Promotion Terms and Conditions

Eligibility

  1. The Simplygo Visa Free Ride Promotion (“Promotion“) is available from 6 June 2019 to 31 Jul 2019 (both dates inclusive) (“Promotion Period“). The Promotion is open to all principal cardholders of Standard Chartered VISA Credit Cards and Debit Cards, with contactless transaction capabilities, issued in Singapore by Standard Chartered Bank (Singapore) Limited (collectively, “Cards” and each, a “Card”) (collectively, “Eligible Cardholders“). By participating in the Promotion, Eligible Cardholders agree to be bound by these terms and conditions. For the avoidance of doubt, supplementary cardholders of Cards are not eligible for this Promotion.
  1. Unless otherwise stated, the Promotion is not valid with other offers, discounts, rebates, vouchers, privileges or promotions. The Promotion is valid in conjunction with the Standard Chartered Caltex 2019 Promotion (the terms and conditions of which can be found here), and The Good Life® 2019 Promotion (the individual merchant and general terms and conditions of which can be found here).
  2. For the avoidance of doubt, a Card account must be valid (i.e. must not be suspended, cancelled and/or terminated), in good standing, and conducted in a proper and satisfactory manner, as determined by Standard Chartered Bank (Singapore) Limited (the “Bank”) in its sole and absolute discretion (and the Bank shall not be obliged to disclose its reason) from 6 June 2019 to 31 September 2019 to be eligible for the Promotion.

Participation

  1. To participate in the Promotion, Eligible Cardholders must successfully register their Card(s) during the Promotion Period by sending an SMS in the format set out in Clause 6 below (“Registration SMS“) (such registration process referred to as “Registration”).
  2. The Bank will not accept any:
    1. attempts to register before and/or after the Promotion Period; and
    2. registrations that are not in the prescribed format (as set out in Clause 6 below).

All such registrations will be considered by the Bank to be invalid and/or void, and the Bank’s determination shall be final and conclusive.

  1. All Registration SMSes must be composed in the following format:

The composed SMS must be sent to 77222 from the Eligible Cardholder’s mobile number that is registered with the Bank (“Bank Registered Mobile Number”). All SMSes which are not in this prescribed format, sent to an incorrect number, or sent from a non-Bank Registered Mobile Number will not be accepted and will be considered by the Bank to be invalid and/or void, and the Bank’s determination shall be final and conclusive.

  1. An acknowledgement of successful Registration will be sent to the Eligible Cardholder’s Bank Registered Mobile Number. Upon successful Registration, all of the Eligible Cardholder’s Card(s), with Card account(s) which fulfil Clause 3, will be registered for the Promotion (such successfully registered card(s) hereinafter referred to as a “Registered Card” and the cardholder of such Registered Card, a “Registered Cardholder”).
  2. As and when Registered Cardholders change or update their Bank Registered Mobile Number during the Promotion Period, such Registered Cardholders will have to re-register for the Promotion under the new Bank Registered Mobile Number within the Promotion Period as set out in Clause 4. Failure to re-register will mean that the cardholder will not be eligible for the Promotion.
  3. Eligible Cardholders need only register once by Registration SMS within the Promotion Period to participate in the Promotion, except where Registered Cardholders change or update their Bank Registered Mobile Number (for which Clause 8 above would apply).
  4. For the avoidance of doubt, Eligible Cardholders may register anytime for the Promotion within the Promotion Period.
  5. The speed and reliability of service of the Eligible Cardholder’s internet and/or mobile connection is dependent solely on his/her respective internet and/or mobile service providers. The Bank is not and will not be responsible or liable in any manner whatsoever for any delay or failure in the transmission or receipt of any Registration SMS, or any failure to successfully register resulting from the same. Eligible Cardholders shall be solely responsible for all fees and charges imposed by their service providers in the Registration.
  6. By registering for the Promotion and participating in the Promotion, the Eligible Cardholder consents to the use of his/her personal data for marketing purposes, including but not limited to the use of his/her telephone number to contact him/her about products and promotions offered by the Bank from time to time via telephone, SMS or multimedia messaging. Such consent will also prevail even if the Eligible Cardholders is registered or subsequently registers his/her contact information with the national Do Not Call Registry.

Promotion Mechanics

  1. Subject to the terms herein, if the Eligible Cardholder has more than one Registered Card, he/she can aggregate the number of Qualifying Transactions (as defined in Clause 15 below) across all his/her Registered Cards, to qualify for Cashback (as defined in Clause 14 below) under the Promotion.
  1. For purposes of this Promotion, the first 15,000 Eligible Cardholders to successfully register for the Promotion and charge Qualifying SimplyGo Transactions (as defined at clause 15 below) to Registered Card(s) during the Promotion Period can enjoy free rides in the form of a cashback subject to a cap, on public buses and the Mass Rapid Transit (“MRT”) in Singapore (“Free Rides”). The Bank will award cashback equivalent to the amount of these Qualifying Simplyygo Transactions (“Cashback”), subject to the Cashback Cap (as defined below). The maximum Cashback each Eligible Cardholder is eligible to receive under the Promotion is capped at S$10 (“Cashback Cap”).
  2. Qualifying Simplygo Transactions is defined as fare payments of public bus or MRT rides in Singapore transacted through the Simplygo service and charged to Registered Card(s) (“Qualifying Simplygo Transactions”). The Simplygo service is offered by Land Transport Authority (LTA) and Transit Link Pte Ltd (“Simplygo Service”). Find out more about the Simplygo Service at https://simplygo.transitlink.com.sg/.
  1. If the Eligible Cardholder has more than one Registered Card, all Qualifying Simplygo Transactions charged to each Registered Card during the Promotion Period will be used to determine the Cashback (defined in clause 14) amount for the Eligible Cardholder.
  1. Qualifying Simplygo Transactions charged to supplementary cards of a Card account will not be counted towards the Qualifying SimplygoTransactions for the purposes of the Promotion.
  1. Eligible Cardholders who have qualified to receive the Cashback will be notified by SMS no later than 31 September 2019. Cashback awarded under this Promotion will be credited to the credit card account of the Registered Card by 31 September 2019. If the Eligible Cardholder has more than one Registered Card, the Cashback will be credited to the credit card account of the Registered Card with the highest number of Qualifying Simplygo Transactions.

General

  1. In the event that the Eligible Cardholder terminates his/her banking relationship with the Bank within 6 months of the expiry of the Promotion Period, the Bank further reserves the right to recover the whole or any part of the Cashback(s) given to you under this Promotion. At the time of crediting of the Cashback(s), the Registered Card account must be valid (i.e. must not be suspended, cancelled and/or terminated), in good standing, and conducted in a proper and satisfactory manner, as determined by the Bank in its sole and absolute discretion (and the Bank shall not be obliged to disclosed its reason), failing which, the Cashback(s) will be forfeited and the Bank shall also be entitled to recover the whole or any part of the Cashback(s) (or such equivalent value) given to you.
  2. The Bank is not responsible for any failure or delay in the transmission of the transactions by any party including but not limited to Visa acquiring merchant Transit Link Pte Ltd, any telecommunication provider or any other service provider.
  1. The Bank reserves the right to revise these terms and conditions, modify or withdraw the Promotion at any time without prior notice or reason including terminating, shortening, suspending, extending or withdrawing the Promotion and/or substituting the Cashback with any other item (which may or may not be of equivalent or similar value), without prior notice or reason.
  1. The Bank accepts no liability for the goods and services provided by any merchant or service provider. Any dispute about the same must be resolved directly with the merchant or service provider. In case of any disputes, the decision of the Bank and the respective merchants, or service providers shall be final.
  1. The Bank is not an agent of any merchant or service provider or vice versa.
  1. The Cashback is non-transferable, non-assignable and non-exchangeable for cash or credit or otherwise. No payment or compensation whether in cash, credit or kind shall be made for any uncollected, lost, stolen or damaged Cashback. The Bank reserves the right to replace or substitute the Cashback with any item which may or may not be of equivalent or similar value, without prior notice or reason (and the Bank shall not be obliged to disclose its reason).
  1. Except for death or personal injury caused by the negligence of the Bank, to the fullest extent permitted by law, the Bank and members of the Bank’s group shall have no liability in respect of, and will be indemnified from and against, any liability, loss, claim, damage or costs of any kind (including legal costs) to any person or entity, in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, whether by reason of the acceptance, possession, use or misuse of the Cashback.
  2. The Bank reserves the right to determine at its sole and absolute discretion all matters arising out of or in connection with the Promotion. The Bank’s determination of all matters relating to the Promotion shall be final and binding, and no correspondence will be entertained.
  1. In the event the Bank has determined that an Eligible Cardholder has irregularly or wrongly received the Cashback from the Bank, or where the Bank has knowledge of subsequent events which would mean that the Eligible Cardholder would not have been entitled to receive the Cashback (including where the charges for the Qualifying Transaction were reversed or refunded), the Bank reserves the right to claw back the Cashback or to deduct the value of the Cashback from the Eligible Cardholder’s account(s) with the Bank. For the purposes of clawing back any part or all of the Cashback, the Eligible Cardholder authorizes and consents to the Bank debiting the value of any part or all of the Cashback from any of his/her credit/debit card accounts.
  1. In the event of any inconsistency between the Promotion Terms and Conditions and any brochures, marketing or promotional materials relating to the Promotion, these Promotion Terms and Conditions shall prevail to the extent of such inconsistency.
  2. Please read these terms and conditions together with our Customer Terms, Credit Card Terms, the Current/Cheque/Savings Account and Time Deposit Terms and any other product terms that may be applicable in conjunction with the Promotion (collectively “Other Terms“). In the event of any inconsistency between these terms and the Other Terms, these terms prevail only to the extent of such inconsistency.
  3. A person who is not a party to these Promotion Terms and Conditions has no right under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act (Cap. 53B) to enforce any of the Promotion Terms and Conditions.
  1. The Promotion Terms and Conditions are governed by and shall be construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Singapore and you agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the Republic of Singapore.
