Standard Chartered Global Private Bank expands UK team with new Relationship Manager hires

on November 6, 2024

6 November 2024, London, UK – Standard Chartered Global Private Bank has hired three new Relationship Managers, strengthening its UK private banking offering to Ultra High Net Worth Individuals (UHNWIs).

Deven Thacker and Madan Mohan joined the Bank as Senior Relationship Managers reporting to Warren Jeffrey, with immediate effect, and Ashwin Rodrigues joined in September reporting to Eleftherios Sachanidis. All three are based in London. Backed by world class research and unique client-suited product solutions, the trio will focus on serving the global Non-Resident Indian (NRI) and African markets to help UHNWIs realise their financial needs.

Demir Avigdor, Managing Director, Head of Private Banking UK, Standard Chartered, says: “Ashwin, Deven and Madan are highly professional and competent Relationship Managers, who bring with them a wealth of industry experience and expertise in serving emerging market clients over many years.

“Their appointments demonstrate our ongoing investment and growth ambitions for our global NRI and Africa business in London, as we look to enhance our position in these rapidly expanding markets. I am delighted to welcome them to the team.”

Ashwin joins Standard Chartered from Citibank, where he started his career over 18 years ago. During his tenor there, he worked in India, Bahrain and the UK. Most recently, Ashwin was a Relationship Manager managing HNW and UHNW clients in the UK and Middle East regions.

Deven has over two decades of experience in wealth management and joins Standard Chartered from BOS Wealth Management in London. At BOS, Deven specialised in managing High Net Worth NRI clients across the UK, UAE, Kenya and Nigeria. Prior to his role at BOS, he honed his expertise at Citibank, focusing on NRI clients based out of East Africa, the Midlands and London in the UK.

Madan, who has over 20 years private banking industry experience, joins from Credit Suisse, where he was a Relationship Manager based in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Previously he spent over 16 years at Citi’s International & Private Banking business in UK and UAE. He also worked at UBS in the UK, looking after NRI and African clients.

This comes at a time when Standard Chartered recently reinforced its focus on the affluent business, announcing in its third quarter 2024 results that it will invest around $1.5bn over five years globally in relationship managers and investment advisers, wealth solutions, and enhanced advisory, cross-border and digital capabilities.
