Standard Chartered Appoints New Head of Technology, Media, Telecommunications, Americas
on June 20, 2019Additional Key Appointments Enhance Delivery of Client Centric Strategy
NEW YORK, June 20, 2019 – Standard Chartered has appointed Mathew Harvey as Head,
Technology, Media, Telecommunications, Americas. He will be based in San Francisco, and will
also be the head of the San Francisco office. He will join the Bank on 15 July, 2019, and will
report to James (Jim) Pak, Regional Head, Global Banking, Americas. In this role, Mathew will
be responsible for advising and delivering strategic banking needs of Technology, Media and
Telecommunications clients.
Mathew joins the Bank from BNP Paribas where he was Managing Director and North American
Sector Head, Technology. Mathew brings with him a wealth of technology sector experience
from a 20 year career with ABN AMRO Bank and BNP Paribas in San Francisco. Overall, his
30+ years of banking experience spans Corporate Finance, Credit, strategy creation and execution. He has held a number of team management roles and has exceptional senior client
coverage skills.
Jim Pak has taken on the role of Regional Head, Global Banking, Americas, with responsibility
for both the International Corporates and Financial Institutions portfolio in the Americas. Jim
moved to the Americas franchise from Standard Chartered Korea where he was Head of Global
Banking, Korea. In this role, Jim will be focused on supporting our Americas clients’ growth
ambitions in Asia, Africa and the Middle East.
Jeremy Amias is appointed Vice Chairman of the Americas, reporting directly to Torry
Berntsen, CEO and Head of Corporate and Institutional Banking, Americas. Jeremy’s extensive
client experience and institutional relationships will elevate our depth of engagement with key
clients and generate new revenue opportunities.
Robert Snell, Global Head of Global Subsidiaries remains based in New York, and retains his
responsibilities for leading the bank’s global multinationals business, Global Subsidiaries
Coverage. He will continue to actively support the growth of the Americas corporate business in
this capacity.
