Standard Chartered to Donate Face Masks and USD60,000 to Local Organizations
on April 6, 2020NEW YORK, April 6, 2020 – In response to the urgent needs created by the COVID-19 pandemic, Standard Chartered Americas is donating 20,000 pieces of N95 respirator masks for healthcare workers and committing $60,000 in funding to local organizations. These initial initiatives are in addition to global efforts which include a USD50 million global fund and USD1 billion to finance companies helping to tackle COVID-19.
Healthcare workers who will receive the face masks are in Standard Chartered US locations: New York,New Jersey, Texas, and San Francisco. In the tri-state area, Standard Chartered Americas is partnering with the New Jersey Office of Emergency Management and the Greater New York Hospital Association to facilitate the deployment of the masks to hospitals in most urgent need.
In addition to personal protective equipment, Standard Chartered Americas is also making monetary contributions to New York City’s local organizations.
• USD20,000 has been dedicated to City Harvest as part of a team page to raise funds for New York City’s largest food rescue organization to feed children in need when access to school meals has become limited due to school closure.
• USD20,000 will go to Citymeals on Wheels, the designated emergency responder for NYC’s seniors, to help deliver meals to homebound elderly.
• USD20,000 will be committed to The City College of New York to help alleviate financial hardships for students.
