'All of it squandered.' |

The following
story involves a lady who has spent 30 years of her life working
with us at Standard Chartered in Africa and is now preparing
for her retirement. She feels that she has made her contribution
and it is now time to make way for the young people now coming
up through the ranks.
'Later in my career, when I was an administrator here in Gaborone,
I came across armed robbery. I was not involved directly, but
my employees were involved. At the time, I had 14 people working
under me. I sent four of them to the central bank to deliver
some cash. There was the senior teller, a clerk, a messenger
and the Bank's driver. It was quite a large amount of cash.
They left the bank at 9am I expected them to return by 9.35,
as the central bank is only a few blocks away. At 9.45 there
was no sign of them. By 10 o'clock I knew something was wrong.'
Agatha Maswibilili was fortunate enough not to be directly
involved in this attack but other employees in the bank weren't
so lucky. They went through an emotional ordeal
.
