Tips on account opening

Before your application

  1. Find a private area where no one can see your personal data
  2. Find a place with good lighting
  3. Have your HKID  readily available
  4. Prepare a piece of white paper which will be helpful when you take photo of your HKID

HKID verification

  1. Ensure adequate lighting is available. Don’t shoot in dimly lit areas or under bright lights
  2. Put a piece of white paper under your HKID
  3. Ensure no shadow/glare is cast over your HKID
  4. Review your HKID image to ensure the details on your HKID are not out of focus before you proceed

Selfie verification

  1. Find a place with good lighting
  2. Hold the camera at eye level
  3. Align your eyes with the circle shown on screen
  4. Blink your eyes according to the instruction
  5. Take the selfie with plain background
  6. Make sure no one is standing behind you

2. To apply via SC Mobile App, you must have a mobile device which is supported with iOS version 11 or above (iPhone 5S or later model) or with Android version 7.0 or above; and equipped with front and back camera, and with gravity sensor.

3. For any of the Bank’s products services , or application or utilising any of the Bank’s services that requires your handwritten signature, e.g. cheque book request, please visit any of our branches to provide us with a specimen of your handwritten signature.

4. If the average daily Relationship Balance of the Priority Banking client within the quarter falls below HKD1,000,000, a maintenance fee of HKD900 will be charged for the quarter. For details, please refer to the Service Charges booklet.

  • To be eligible to apply for an Integrated Deposits Account via SC Mobile App, you should meet ALL the following criteria:

    1. Not holding any of the following deposit accounts with Standard Chartered Bank (Hong Kong) Limited:

    • Savings Account
    • Current / Cheque Account
    • Integrated Deposits Account
    • Time Deposit Account

    2. Holding a valid Hong Kong Identity Card (HKID);

    3. Hong Kong Permanent or non-Permanent Resident aged 18 or above;

    4. Non-US Resident, non-US citizen and not holding a US Permanent Resident Card (Green Card);

    5. Opening this account for personal use only

  • Yes, as long as you do not hold any deposit account with us and meet the other requirements listed above at the time of Integrated Deposits Account application via SC Mobile App. Your personal information under your existing Standard Chartered credit card will be updated according to this application form after your bank account is opened.

  • Yes, as long as you are a new client with us now and meet the above requirements.

  • Once your Integrated Deposits Account is opened, a Standard Chartered UnionPay Single Currency ATM Card will be issued to you. When you have received it, please log in to Online Banking to confirm the receipt of new card.

    Also, please log in to SC Mobile App to set up your account and select your preferred banking plan and offer within 30 days after your account is opened.

    Please note our account setup is available in SC Mobile App from 8AM to 10PM, Monday to Sunday.

    If you do not complete the account setup, the prevailing savings interest rates will continue to be applied on your Integrated Deposits Account opened via SC Mobile App, and your banking plan will remain to be Easy Banking.

myWealth service limitations

  • myWealth is a direct to client investment service. If you require human interaction, please contact your Relationship Manager for further engagement.
  • The investment ideas generated through the myWealth service have taken into consideration your current risk profile, cash balances, investment funds, bonds, equities, structured investments and structured products holdings that you have held with the Bank.
  • Your investment concentration, holdings in insurance, leverage or other loans with the Bank, and any other investment holdings, assets / liabilities outside the Bank are not considered in the myWealth service.
  • Currently, myWealth only generates investment ideas on investment funds based on your current asset allocation and the model asset allocation under predefined rules.
  • myWealth does not offer automatic portfolio rebalancing.
  • The algorithms may include performance data and statistics that are derived based on historical data and methodologies formulated on various assumptions.
  • Extreme events such as drastic market declines are not explicitly modelled.
  • Prices and market values are for your information only and their accuracy is not guaranteed, and they may not be relied upon by any party as the basis for making any trading, hedging or investment decision. Prices including those of exchange traded securities are generally based upon the last traded price at close of market. Funds are valued based on the latest available net asset value.   • Renminbi (“RMB”) exchange rate, like any other currency, is affected by a wide range of factors and is subject to fluctuations. Such fluctuations may result in gains and losses in the event that the client subsequently converts RMB to another currency (including Hong Kong dollars); and
  • RMB is currently not freely convertible and conversion of RMB through banks in Hong Kong is subject to restrictions specified by the Bank and regulatory requirements applicable from time to time. The actual conversion arrangement will depend on the restrictions prevailing at the relevant time.
