Things to Know Before Applying for a Smart Credit Card

Application Eligibility

Fees and Charges

Annual Fees

For new cardholders, the annual fee is waived off for the first year. Thereafter, the annual fee is S$91 (excluding 9% GST).

For existing cardholders as at 6 December 2024, the annual fee is waived for the next 12 months. From 6 December 2025, an annual fee of S$91 (excluding 9% GST) would apply.

Finance Charges

EIR 27.9% per annum (minimum) Effective Interest Rate (“EIR”): If payment is not made in full by the due date, finance charges will be calculated on a daily basis at 0.076% from the respective transaction dates for all transactions to the date the payment is received.

Cash Advance

Cash advance fee is waived for Smart Credit Cardholders.

Late Payment Charges

A late payment charge of S$100 will be charged if minimum payment due is not received by the due date.

Changes to card benefits

From 6 December 2024, you can earn high cashback of up to 10% on even more everyday merchants using your Smart Card.

The changes will take effect from your next statement cycle after 6 December 2024.

For example, if your statement cycle is on the 19th, your first statement month following the new Smart Card benefits will be from 20th December 2024 to 19th January 2025.

Clients who charge less than S$800 to the Smart Card in their statement month will also enjoy 4% cashback on bonus categories from 6 December 2024 to 31 March 2025.

From 1 April 2025, you will earn the base reward of 0.5% cashback on all eligible spend (including bonus categories) if you do not meet the minimum S$800 monthly spend. Read More on T&C.

Cashback and Rewards

Certain types of transactions are not considered eligible retail transactions and will not earn 360° Rewards Points. For the full list of exclusions, please refer to Standard Chartered Credit Cards Retail Transaction Exclusions.

All eligible spend on the Smart Card (including bonus categories) will earn 360° Rewards Points. See table below for the amount of 360° Rewards Points you will earn with each dollar charged to the card.

Qualifying merchants span a wide range of dining, transport and streaming services, including popular names like — McDonald’s, KFC, Burger King, Ya Kun Kaya Toast, Subway, Toast Box, Starbucks, Coffee Bean, Tealive, Bus/MRT via SimplyGo, Netflix, Disney+, Amazon Prime, Viu, IQiyi, HBO Go, Spotify Premium and YouTube Premium.

For all other spending, cardholders can earn 1% cashback.

You can choose to redeem your 360° Rewards Points for cashback via SC Online Rewards. A minimum of 3,200 360° Rewards Points is required for each redemption of S$10 cashback.

*Only valid for a limited period from 6 December 2024 to 31 March 2025.

There is no cap on cashback from December 6, 2024, onwards.

Under the current Smart Card Rewards Promotions terms and conditions, there is a cap of 14,400 360° Rewards Points (“Smart Cap”) per statement month.

This cap will be removed from 6 December 2024. Smart Cardholders will therefore enjoy no cap on both bonus categories and any eligible spend.

All 360° Rewards Points for Bonus categories earned within your statement month will be credited 1 day after your statement cycle date.

For example, if your statement cycle is on the 19th, your spend period for each statement month will be from the 20th to the 19th of the following month. All 360° Rewards Points for Bonus categories you have earned would therefore be credited on the 20th.

All 360o Rewards Points for other eligible spend earned within your statement month will be credited at the end of your statement cycle date.

For example, if your statement cycle is on the 19th, all 360° Rewards Points for other eligible spend you have earned would therefore be credited on the 19th.

There is no need to replace your existing Smart Card. You can continue using your Smart Card.

You can redeem the cashback via our Online Rewards Page. Cashback can be redeemed in blocks of S$10. Every 3,200 360° Reward Points entitles you to a S$10 cashback for your Smart Credit Card.

Dining, Transports and Streaming Benefits

Merchants that fall under the category of Smart Dining will qualify for bonus 8% or 10% cashback depending on your monthly spend amount.

These merchants include McDonald’s, Burger King, KFC, Subway, Toast Box, Ya Kun Kaya Toast, Starbucks, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, Pizza Hut and Domino’s Pizza.

Merchants that fall under the category of Smart Transport will qualify for bonus 8% or 10% cashback depending on your monthly spend amount.

These merchants include Bus and/or MRT rides via SimplyGo and Electric Vehicle charging transactions that have MCC 5552.

Merchants that fall under the category of Smart Streaming will qualify for bonus 8% or 10% cashback depending on your monthly spend amount.

These merchants include Netflix, Spotify, YouTube, Disney+, Amazon Prime, Viu, iQIYI and HBO GO

3-month interest-free instalments

You may continue to convert your transactions of minimum S$150 to interest-free instalments on your Smart Card. However, there will be a processing fee charged for instalment conversions from 13 January 2025. Please refer to our webpage on EasyPay for more information.

Any EasyPay instalments on your Smart Card effected before12 January 2025 will not be impacted. There will not be a processing fee charged to your card.

Annual Fee and other charges

Your Annual Membership Fee would be waived for the next 12 months. From 6 December 2025, an Annual Membership Fee of S$91 (excluding GST) would apply.

All new Smart cardholders from 6 December 2024 will enjoy a first-year annual fee waiver. You will be charged an annual fee for subsequent years.

Currently, Smart cardholders will be assigned an Effective Interest Rate (“EIR”) of 23.9%, 27.9% or 29.9% per annum based on the Bank’s assessment of the cardholder’s credit profile.

From 6 December 2024, all Smart cardholders will have a standardized EIR of 27.9% per annum. Finance charges are only applicable if payment is not made in full by the due date. These finance charges will be calculated on a daily basis at 0.076% from the respective transaction dates for all transactions to the date the payment is received.

The changes will take effect from your next statement cycle after 6 December 2024.

For example, if your statement cycle is on the 19th, your first statement month following the standardized EIR of 27.9% per annum will be from 20th December 2024 to 19th January 2025.
